05 / A FEW USEFUL ANSWERS

A little clarity.
Before we begin.

Have another question?
We’re only an email away.

What tree services do you offer in Stamford, Peterborough and Rutland?

We offer tree removal, crown reductions, pollarding, site clearance, crown cleaning and thinning, deadwood removal, storm damage work, hedge cutting, climbing inspections and stump grinding. Contact Josh or Rob to discuss your tree and location.

How much does tree surgery cost?

The cost depends on the size and condition of the tree, access, nearby buildings, the work required and waste handling. Send your postcode, a description and photographs where possible. We can then discuss whether a site visit is needed and prepare a quote.

Do I need permission to prune or remove a tree?

Check with your local planning authority before arranging work. A Tree Preservation Order or a conservation area may affect what you can do, and other restrictions can apply. For Stamford, start with South Kesteven District Council; for Peterborough, contact Peterborough City Council; and in Rutland, contact Rutland County Council. Confirm permissions before work begins.

What is the difference between crown reduction and thinning?

A crown reduction makes the canopy smaller by shortening selected branches. Crown thinning selectively removes branches within the canopy to reduce its density while broadly keeping its size and outline. The right option depends on the tree and your aim.

Can you help with a storm-damaged or fallen tree?

Yes, storm damage work is one of our services. Call Josh or Rob to discuss the damage and current availability. Keep people away from unstable trees or hanging branches. If a tree is in contact with power lines, stay clear and contact the electricity network operator.

Can you remove the stump after a tree has been felled?

We offer stump grinding as a separate service or as part of planned tree removal. Tell us about the stump, access to the garden and what you want to do with the space afterwards, so the scope can be agreed.

When should I have my hedges cut?

The right timing depends on the hedge species, the extent of the work and whether wildlife is present. Active bird nests must be protected. We can discuss the work you have in mind and suitable timing before arranging it.
